What inspires me as an author is the opportunity to help children fall in love with reading, as I did as a young child. I want children to experience the wonder and excitement of reading. I want them to able to travel anywhere and experience any adventure when their minds and imaginations are stirred by the written word. I want them to able to “go to fantastic places” and “see fantastic things” that can only be experienced in books. I want them to love the sounds and songs of well written prose and poetry. I want them to able to learn to research any and everything their hearts desire to know. I want children to learn the unique experience of curling up with a good book, that there is nothing to compare with this experience. They can just relax and be transported from every day cares and concerns. They can enter into worlds that will make them experience joy, sadness, anger, fear; in short, every human emotion. I want them to become “hooked on books”, to become life-long readers.
